Ian…..I applied for my AWC in August and just received it today 30th December. Anyway big thanks to Chris and Steve for their input to Police Scotland. Look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year. 4+ months, shocking!

There should be no firearms cabinet requirement for AWL (FAC are a different matter). Provided the weapons cannot be accessed, fired or removed by a person under the age of 18, or non-licence holder, a locked cupboard or secured to fabric in some way (cable etc.) should be sufficient. I personally have cabinets but they are multi-purpose and I have no concerns over access. Some of the measures seem excessive (a £50 Dr’s report for renewal, when the surgery already has markers on your file in the event you develop a notifiable condition!)

There is no need to be buying a gun cabinet to store air rifles. Queen Nics own legislation covers the storage criteria
Don't pander to some power hungry feo making up his own rules.
If he's using rimfire rules for air weapons then everybody that passes his airweapon rulings are also eligible to own a rimfire. The man's an arse.

My license was in the mail today ! Yay ! I had started the process on October 10th, exactly 16 weeks ago. I'm going back home, so I'll high-5 you guys in a week or so.

...exactly 16 weeks ago... I'm tempted to say that that was quick! Mine took about the same six months or so ago but I've heard nothing but longer time frames ever since. Anyway, congratulations on getting your AWL, Naughty Norman.

Oh dear - just received a renewal reminder... Pamela's renewal took just under 3 weeks so there is definitely hope that Police Scotland might be fit for purpose but I doubt it.

Last time I purchased an air rifle in Birmingham I was asked to provide my address, immediately Scotland was mentioned, I was asked for my AWL. When a gun is sent to a Scottish RFD,they have to see your license before handing over the gun. If Russ were to purchase a gun then sell it to a non license holder, he would then be committing an offence under Scottish Law Lets face it, the all powerfull THEY don`t want us to have guns (Unless Russia invades, when we will all become Heros protecting the Polititions)
