CV-19 has been dragging its unwanted ar$e around for far too long and it's had an affect on all of us in one way or another. Denwood on Wednesday evenings used to be a lively place with lots of friends and familiar faces all indulging their love of Airgunning and, since Denwood reopened, we've seen a marked reduction in numbers from the good old days of 2019.
Admittedly, we've had restrictions on the amount of members who can attend imposed on us but we're still not running anywhere near our (limited) capacity which means that a lot of you guys are missing out on Trigger Time. While playing it safe in these CV-19 times is a wise thing (and no one here will criticise anyone for that) I'd add that we have spacing and social distancing rules in place at Denwood along with cleaning regimens intended to stop the spread of CV-19.
I think it's fair to say that the majority of our membership are not in the first flush of youth and possibly more at risk of serious CV-19 complications but, with the above safety measures in place, the GARC and Denwood Committees have done a lot to safeguard you and the weather is pretty nice just now so is it maybe time to consider a cautious return to the simple, relaxing pleasures of a plink on a lovely Wednesday evening?
The Club isn't after your money here, it's just that shooting opportunities are being missed. Our Clubmate Les is undergoing Chemo just now. It's hard going on him and I'm sure we wish him all the best but, the thing is, even in his weakened condition, he still comes to Denwood when able for his shooting fix and feels safe about it. Russ also wobbles in on his sticks at every possible session. Quite inspiring and I wouldn't like to think that others are denying themselves the mood lifting/feel good qualities of a good airgun session.
This is just my personal take on things and there's certainly no pressure to attend but I think a lot of members must be missing their shooting by now - is it time to consider a return to Denwood?
