The Rules.
Any 0.177 pistol. Open sights only. Standing, unsupported and one handed. The range should be as near to 6 yards as possible. Only use the GARC pdf target sheets - download from the GARC Website One shot per "bull" for a total of 10 per round. Score the target yourself. Completed entries to be photographed and posted in this thread.
Honesty is the key here so, after practicing, commit yourself to shooting an official entry then submit it warts 'n' all - no shooting a dozen sheets then entering the best!

It begins! I somehow managed only one zero, however, it was spectacularly zero.

19/30 for my second Typhoon run, keeping up the tradition of missing completely once per round.
I should break out the Dan Wesson with a red dot and have a go at the open as well, legend has it there's another competitor over there...
(Bri, do you reckon the Dan Wesson OK to store with a CO2 bulb in it for a week or so or should I empty it whenever I'm done for a day? I could do five cards in a week with it without wasting excessive pellets... or CO2 bulbs. I even read the manual and it doesn't even mention not storing it with a bulb in, despite it being a standard warning for the Airsoft/BB versions).

Hi Stoof.
it's good to see that someone is entering into the spirit of things - just need another shooter to take part and I'll start drawing up the scoreboard. That said, at this rate you're going to win by virtue of being the only entrant.
As for leaving 12g CO2 cartridges in, the Airgun Hive Mind is against it on the grounds that it'll cause accelerated compression and wear of the cartridge seal. It'd probably be ok short term but not a good habit to get into in my opinion.

If I remember correctly, there's a freestanding wooden frame at Denwood's 50m range that we can tape some targets onto for a crack at these competitions.
I know Les is itching to try out his newly acquired Steyr LP2 and Russ must be getting withdrawal symptoms from a lack of pistol shooting so, if someone can run off a few official GARC targets (I don't have a printer or access to a photocopier,) then more of us can join in the fun on Wednesdays.

I'm still the only one here, but I shot a card anyway *shrug* I'm getting better in increments of one point per round, but still getting a zero each time. Presumably my final card will be 27 - made up of 9 threes and a zero.

There's a rumour (started right here) that Les and Bri are going to shoot cards at Denwood now.

Can't speak for Les but, if I can get some targets printed, I'll have a crack next time I'm at Denwood. Wasn't shooting at the full 10m - taking baby steps after not shooting properly for a year - but I was happy with these 20 shots with the Izzy.

So here we go, final March cards for the competition of one. Round 4 from Saturday and round 5 this morning. Round 4 - I didn't get a zero! And that second row of targets is a thing of Beauty. I was so happy I put an exclamation mark after the score, since there was no way I could beat that with my final card..._
Round 5 - ...or could I?
I have either "become one" with the humble Webley Typhoon semi-recoilless back garden artillery plinker, or it was a fluke. These scores are in the ball park of what I'm getting with an HW25 rifle, which is unexpected, so I'd lean towards fluke.

Looks like you've got this one in the bag - Let's see if we can get you some competition in April.

An easy victory for Stoof - As the only entrant, he could have stopped after the first round and still won but he continued and, following off-screen practice, his scores in subsequent rounds improved to a pretty impressive level considering the pistol used. The saying "Competition improves the breed" seems very apt here. Shooting one-handed isn't easy but worthwhile things rarely are and he's now a better shot than when he started and that's what it's all about. Kudos.
