What’s the difference? F all some might say. Some will also point out that F is what it’s all about. F being the German nomenclature for their max power (7.5 joules) without a licence.
HW30SF is for the UK market, while the HW30S is what I got from Germany. The main difference is the power - 7.5 joule (5.5ftlb) in Germany, circa 7-8 ftlb in UK. The German gun gets a Minelli stock with more sculpting and panels of checkering and stippling. And the German gun comes with a front sight that has interchangeable elements vs the fixed post in the UK version.
I’ve put 3-4 tins of pellet through the SF, it has bedded in very nicely. The S, with only about 50 pellets so far, is just as accurate but has still to bed in. Being lower powered, the S jumps about less and is slightly nicer to shoot.
I still prefer the MK4IS for sheer accuracy, but something about these HW30’s make them fun to shoot. Even at 25m I can get ragged hole groups with the SF.
I’ve got the SF set up with a 3-9x scope and the S with a Williams peep sight. The S I’ve put in a slightly modified stock that reduces the reach to the trigger and has a butt hook for more consistent shouldering/cheek-weld.
Tomorrow I’m having a big session with the two HW30’s, the MK4IS and the FTP900.

Interesting - looks like the Germans keep the better specced guns for their home market.
Never shot my 30S at 25m. I'm sure that surprises no one.

Here's the stock that came with the German sourced HW30S Did a bit of chrono testing: UK HW30SF - RWS Meisterkugeln (7gr) avg fps 714 (7.9ftlb), spread 21 fps - AA Express (7.8gr) avg fps 669 (7.8ftlb), spread 18 fps - JSB Exact (8.4gr) avg fps 636 (7.6ftlb), spread 8fps
German HW30S - RWS Meisterkugeln (7gr) avg fps 656 (6.7ftlb), spread 33 fps - AA Express (7.8gr) avg fps 616 (6.6ftlb), spread 18 fps - JSB Exact (8.4gr) avg fps 553 (5.7ftlb), spread 10fps A bit odd the difference in ftlb between the rifles with the JSB Exact. And why the 'spread' with the RWS Meisterkugeln? Interesting how the German HW30S is over their 7.5J (5.5ftlb) limit with all three pellets. Going to be doing some more pellet testing (RWS Hobby, RWS R10, JSB Express, RWS Superdome)

Update on chrono testing UK HW30SF - JSB Express (7.87gr) avg fps 672 (7.9ftlb), spread 12fps - RWS Superdome (8.3gr) avg fps 620 (7.1ftlb), spread 22fps
German HW30S - RWS Hobby (7gr) avg fps 615 (5.9ftlb), spread 30fps - RWS R10 (7gr) avg fps 653 (6.6ftlb), spread 6fps - Geco (8.4gr) avg fps 616 (5.9ftlb), spread 26fps
Wow, thought the HW30S was shite with wadcutters, then the RWS R10 performs brilliantly - 6fps spread compared to circa 30fps of the other 3 tested. Fingers crossed the R10 chrono performance translates into similar accuracy.
As for the HW30SF, rested 5 shot edge-to-edge groups at 27yds for RWS Superdome - 17mm, AA Express - 14mm, JSB Express 11.5mm. Not challenging the PCP, but a heck of a lot closer than I ever imagined!!!

I've found R10 pellets to work well in my Match pistols. Wish I could say the same about the RWS Hobby though. It's long been my paper punching pellet of choice as they've seemed well made and a good price/performance compromise. However, I've gone off them of late since I discovered the oddly named H&N Excite Econ. Made of softer lead than the Hobby, it fits Weihrauch barrels easier and flies almost as fast as the R10. And they cost less.
Can't comment about accuracy too much due to lack of opportunity and practice but I'd say they're worth consideration.

It seems the H&N Excite Econ has become the H&N Excite Hobby. Wonder what the difference is?
I think Nick use to (does) use the H&N Excite Econ and is very happy with them. I have a vague memory of having a tin of them, can't remember if I used them all, I'll have to dig through my 'pellet testing' stock.
Shot the R10 with the HW30SF tonight and improved my previous best MPL score from 273/300 to 289/300, although that might just me getting better with the gun. I'm so damn wobbly standing unsupported I can't be sure if the HW30S/R10 combination at 6m is any better yet.

impressive information here and clearly a lot of work gone into the above reports, not to be mocked!!! I have learnt something here myself. But still the Me 109 with the DB 601 power plant can still out turn the R10 and and all models of the HW30, but only above 6meters.
